Elite training in classes, workshops and creation sessions designed to help dancers understand the fundamental ideas of contemporary dance, and support future dancers and their families potential career paths.

Our Curriculum
Our Summer Intensive offers a full daily schedule to advance students' technical and artistic abilities. Each day includes three classes in ballet, contemporary, partnering, repertory, or improvisation taught by our experienced faculty.
The curriculum covers fundamental contemporary movement techniques, working on the integrity of the body and expression. Dancers will learn both solo and partnering skills. A wide range of repertoire from influential choreographers will be explored to increase exposure to different styles within the form. Through this, students can develop their unique style within a collaborative creative process.
At the end of the day, students, in smaller groups, will work with one of our choreographers to create a new work which will be shown at the end of the week. New creations give young dancers the opportunity to be involved with the creative process. Dancers are challenged to negotiate how to find their artistic voice and honor a choreographer’s vision.

Applications are open and accepted on a rolling basis until the program is full. All students over the age of 12 are welcomed to apply. If you have any questions, please contact: contemporarydancelab.to@gmail.com
Materials
To apply, please submit 2 contrasting pieces of material that are 1-2 minutes in length each. For example, one could submit a ballet solo and a contemporary solo, or a lyrical solo and improvisation. Additionally, please submit your headshot and resume.
Timeline
Applications are open and accepted on a rolling basis until the program is full. Dancers who wish to receive the early bird tuition rate must submit their application form by March 2nd. Those who are accepted will only qualify for the early bird rate if they complete their registration by March 15th.
Financial Aid
Limited financial assistance is available. Applicants interested in obtaining aid must include a letter stating why they require aid in their application form. If receiving aid, dancers may be asked to participate in additional tasks for the program, such as Social Media involvement.
Discussion
As much as dance is about physical knowledge and ability, it is also about practical knowledge. We aim for all participants to leave feeling empowered in their understanding of opportunities and equipped to navigate individual journeys within the dance world.
